Combating the 'Diabesity' Epidemic The University Club, University of Western Australia, Perth
It is our pleaure to invite you to join us at the Centre for Food and Genomic Medicine one day scientific symposium to be held on Friday 6th August 2010 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at The University Club of the University of Western Australia.

We are also delighted to confirm our special guest speakers, Profefssor Ian Caterson, Director of the Institute of Obesity, Nutrition and Exercise, as well as the Director of the CSIRO Preventative Health Flagship, whose experitise will complement the day's proceedings bringing their own insights from research into these twin epidemics.
Professor Ian Caterson The Institute of Obesity, Nutrition and Exercise (IONE)
Professor Ian Caterson is Boden Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Sydney, and director of the Institute of Obesity, Nutrition and Exercise, which is committed to reducing the individual and societal impact of obesity and lifestyle-related chronic disease such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, cancer, mental illness and osteoarthritis through attention to important underlying factors such as obesity, inappropriate nutrition and physical inactivity. His main interests are obesity and the fetal origins of adult disease.
Professor Richard Head CSIRO
Professor Richard Head is Director of the CSIRO's Preventative Health Flagship, where he is responsible for the management and delivery of science focused on early detection and intervention in chronic diseases of significance to Australia. Under Professor Head's leadership the Preventative Health Flagship engages with seven CSIRO Divisions, over 30 Australian and eight international or overseas research institutions and agencies. He is also Coordinator of the 'Promoting Health' Sector Domain across CSIRO.
